At the June 10, 2006 Board Meeting we were able to grant a total of $103,650. for our Grant-In-
Aid’s. Listed below are the grants funded with descriptions.
GIA-1-2006 $2,000.00 Alaska Litigation Project. Payment toward legal fees with the
ongoing Federal District Court decision allowing federal management of state-owned wildlife
in Alaska. This is a precedent-setting case for all states. The Alaska case hangs on Dall Sheep
hunting.
GIA-2-2006 $3,000.00 Camp Compass Academy. One of the finest youth programs in
the country. We have supported them for years. They take inner city kids and put them through
a four year program on hunting, fishing and conservation at the same time maintaining sufficient
grade levels. A very regimented program.
GIA-3-2006 $2,000.00 South Okanagan California Bighorn Sheep Recovery Project.
Disease mitigation project. In 1999-2000 approximately 60-70% of the population was lost to
disease. A successful on-going program.
GIA-4-2006 $2,500.00 U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance. One of the finest organizations out
there fighting for hunters rights and the ballot initiatives that come up in the elections each year.
GIA-5-2006 $3,500.00 Conservation Force. One of the best organizations in the
world when it comes to the worldwide protection of hunting.
GIA-6-2006 $2,500.00 National FNAWS. FNAWS Political Program.
GIA-7-2006 $2,500.00 Northern BC Guides. Support to the ongoing Ungulate
Enhancement Fund.
GIA-8-2006 $3,500.00 PA Game Commission. Second payment which completes this
GIA for an Interactive Waterfowl Hunting Exhibit at the Middle Creek Visitors Center at the Middle
Creek Wildlife Management area in Lancaster County, PA.
GIA-9-2006 $2,500.00 Alberta Professional Outfitters. Yearly Contribution
GIA-10-2006 $2,000.00 Yukon Outfitters Association. Yearly Contribution
GIA-11-2006 $2,500.00 Guide Outfitters Association of BC. Yearly Contribution.
GIA-12-2006 $8,000.00 Alaska Professional Hunters Association. Our Alaskan
support has stayed strong. We are better represented by Alaskan Outfitters than any other
state or country.
GIA-13-2006 $3,000.00 Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. RMEF habitat improvements
in the PA Elk Range.
GIA-14-2006 $3,000.00 University of Chihuahua. DNA tests on Desert Bighorn Sheep.
GIA-15-2006 $5,000.00 Our Frog Mascot which we sell each year with the proceeds
being given to the fight and research of Sheep Disease. This is the second of a 3 year
commitment to Dr. Sri Srikumaran, the endowed chair at Washington State University.
GIA-16-2006 $43,650.00 Wyoming Wildlife Heritage Foundation. Money returned from
the sale of Governor Tag.
GIA-17-2006 $1,000.00 Hunt of a Lifetime. A terminally ill young man got to hunt
Desert Bighorn Sheep in Arizona this past year and was successful. This is partial payment for
his travel expenses.
GIA-18-2006 $7,500.00 Wyoming FNAWS. Semino Mountain Sheep transplant in
Hunt Area #17.
GIA-19-2006 $4,000.00 Kyrgyzstan. Start up revenue for a new Wolf Control
Program.
